Mario Azzopardi is a theatre animator with long standing experience in mainstream drama, pedagogical theatre and drama related to social issues.

Graduating with distinction in Theory and Practice of Education, he later earned a Master of Philosophy in Social and Political Theatre. He was one of the pioneers to introduce Theatre-in-Education methods in Malta and he currently holds the position of Principal at the Malta Drama Centre.

Mr Azzopardi has plenty of experience conducting projects within the EU Grundtvig programmes and has run drama workshops in events supported by The Council of Europe. He is also a poet with several anthologies to his credit and teaches socio-political drama at the University of Malta. Mr Azzopardi is also a cultural journalist and the author of Malta's Cultural Policy, published in 2001. He is also the author of Malta's cultural profile for ERICarts, subsidized by the Council of Europe.
