A State institution providing comprehensive drama training, including outreach theatre.
Dorianne, age 29, started attending drama courses and theatrical workshops in the year 2000 with various local theatrical companies. She is qualified with a certificate from Trinity Guildhall, in �Performance Arts�. She participated in various workshops locally and even in Greece and Scotland. Worked also as production secretary and as stage manager in various local productions. She has been engaged as a tutor with the Malta Drama Centre since 2007. She performed in The Doctor and the Devils in Italy, Eros Thanatos & the Clown in Tunisia and The Town Idiot in Focus Festival, Austria. Dorianne took part in the successful local T.V. series, Santa Monika for NET. .
Sean studied visual art and drama to an advanced stage. As he proceeds with his drama studies, he is preparing for the LAMDA Certificate in Drama and Speech. Sean claims his art is mostly influenced by observation. Deciding against waiting for a lucky break, he put up his first play The End, at the MITP theatre in 2007, and Cultivating Insanity in 2008. His plans for the near future include writing and directing for the stage, hoping to produce at least one play every year. On a more personal note, he is getting married to his life-partner, Christine, an actress and graduate of the Drama Centre.
IRENE CHRIST Trained in acting in Germany, Irene has been working professionally at many of the German city theatres, such as Schauspielhaus Bochum, Duesseldorfer Schauspielhaus, Volksbuehne Berlin, Staatstheater Kassel. She moved to Malta in 2001. She founded the theatre company Actinghouse Production in Malta in 2002 and her main roles have included interpretations from Goethe, Ibsen, Albeen, Crim, Tennesse Williams, Dario Fo and many others. Worked in New York with the International WOW company. Irene also landed roles on German TV programmes and with the BBC.
Marvic started Drama lessons with Mario Azzopardi and formed part of the Lyceum Youth Theatre. She took to the stage at the age of fifteen with Kiss Me Kate. She performed in Trento a collage of contemporary plays by Pinter, Albee and then joined Ateatru, which specialized mainly in theatre of the absurd. Marvic was also a leading actress with Politeatru, a social political theatre group directed by Mario Azzopardi, taking part in plays from Bertolt Brecht, Lope De Vega and others. She travelled to Russia for the Malta week in Russia where she performed in The Idiot King and also did mime with Narcy Calamatta. Her repertoire includes various theatres including Manoel Theatre, different plays including comedies, greek tragedies, comedies and various TV productions as well as forum theatre encounters in Latvia as part of the Grundtvig EU Programme.
Lizzie Eldridge graduated with her first degree in Theatre Studies from the University of Glasgow. In 1993, she gained her doctorate from Lancaster University and then went on to teach theatre at the University of Glamorgan (South Wales) and Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh. She also has considerable experience as a performer, director and writer. Her directing work includes her own adaptations of plays by Pirandello, Genet and Anouilh and she's performed in UK venues as well as Malta. Having moved to Malta permanently in 2008, she currently works as a freelance artist engaged in a variety of creative projects spanning theatre, film and TV.
A veteran director for stage and television, Lino worked for various dramatic companies and was a pioneer in the production of television series, often writing scripts himself. He made a name for his himself with a cycle of highly demanding dramas, including translated versions into the Maltese language of classical Greek plays. Lino also has plenty of experience as a coordinator of key cultural festivals, including the Malta International Arts Festival. He has also travelled with drama projects representing the Drama Centre at European Encounters. Lino Farrugia joined the Malta Drama Centre in 2005.
Having nurtured a passion for ballet since she was five years old, Erika sustained this passion for over twenty five years. She has been teaching ballet for the last ten years. Erika gained a diploma in teaching the Royal Academy of Dance curriculum. Erika?s students usually obtain very good results in their examinations. She has been teaching at the Drama Centre since 2003 and has almost a hundred students attending her classes.
Antonella has been training in dance techniques since she was 6 years old. She trained in Latin, American, Freestyle, RMB, slow dancing and other different styles. She is a graduate of the National Association Teaching of Dancing for each of the above dances. Antonella has been teaching at the Malta Drama Centre since 2007 and is eagerly looking forward to develop her teaching skills further.
A graduate of the University of Malta (where he lectured in Communication Studies) and the Technical University of Melbourne, Australia, Albert Marshall spent also some three years working at the Translators' Unit in Luxemburg.
At 9 years old, Tiziana started dancing Latin, American, Freestyle, RMB, slow dancing and other different styles with a private school. She entered successfully for the National Association Teaching of Dancing exams for each of the above dances. She has been teaching at the Malta Drama Centre since 2006. Tiziana’s aim is to make students attending her dance sessions feel happy, relaxed and comfortable. Tiziana is also grateful to all the parents who believe in her.
SVETLANA SILINA Svetlana Silina started her classical ballet training in a private school in Moscow where for ten years she was taught, by amongst many others, Lubov Jakunina and Alexandre Prokoviev, former Bolshoi graduates. In 1976, Sveltana performed in classical roles in organised concerts in Moscow. In 1989 she graduated from the Moscow University as a Classical Ballet Maitre and a teacher of Russian Folk Dance, after which she taught at one of the leading Russian Folk Companies for children. Sveltana has taught in Moscow, Italy, Slovenia and now in Malta where she settled in 1996. In Malta she has been engaged with the Central Academy of Ballet and the Malta Drama Centre since 2004. In Moscow she formed her own dance troupe. Svetlana also holds her Associate status from the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing, Cecchetti Faculty as well as IdB (I) & IdB (II) from the Spanish Dance Society, and also is a member of Alianza association.
Kris Spiteri holds an ATCL and achieved a B.A. Hons in Music Studies in 2003, specializing in Performance. He also obtained the PGCE degree in Music Education. In 2004 he attended a jazz course at Canford Summer School of Music in England. In July 2005 he attended the Berklee Summer School in collaboration with Umbria Jazz Clinics. Kris has his own band, Noir.
